For the LOVE of TIME

Wow!  Really?!  It's been since October!!!  Life got so busy....I've thought about my little blog and of course my Little Sass has asked me "why don't you write on your blog?"  Apparently, she follows me (who knew?) but I have just been running around like a crazy woman.  I currently have a student teacher with me and as much as I want the TIME to just sit and visit with her about everything I LOVE about being in the classroom I just don't have TIME.  Personally, the only thing she is probably learning from me is that it is a true juggling act in the classroom with TIME being one of the things that we juggle.  Of course, we all want more time, even the people who aren't in the classroom but there is something about sitting with a child who is struggling and feeling like if I could just have a little more time they would get it.

Ha!!  On a side my spare time I decided to go back to school for my Master's degree in Elementary Reading.  In case it's not obvious to any of you, because it wasn't to me.......there is SO MUCH READING!!  I'm talking an insane amount of reading and writing.  I don't know, maybe it's because the degree is in READING, kinda obvious now.  I'm a little slow so it takes me a minute.  I'm not complaining about the reading because I do love to read, again it's just the time.  Here's what I've learned so far, not necessarily from my reading but from trying to juggle so many things.

Time is what you make of it.  We are all given the same amount of time each day.  What are you going to do with it?  Complain about it or make the most of every minute.  Our time in the classroom must be intentional, purposeful, meaningful, and REAL.  I can't and don't want to waste THEIR time.  The state has put more and more expectations on these kids and they don't have the time for their teachers to be angry, upset, or stressed about getting it all done.  They need us to be time managers, intentional with every minute of the day, in LOVE with them, and ready to devote our time to them.  I know, because I'm guilty of it too, they need us to slow down.  Sometimes our best lessons are when we stop and listen to the kids, allow them to drive our instruction, and devote our TIME to them not necessarily our lesson plan.

My family needs 100% of me when I'm with them.  I need to put my Facebook away and look at my children when they are talking to me.  I need to date my husband because I'm madly in love with him.  My time with them needs to be intentional, meaningful, and purposeful.  When I sit and think of all the things I need to do it is overwhelming but I don't think God intends for us to do that or feel that way.  He wants me to treasure my time and make the very most of it.

A precious friend of mine received concerning news this week concerning her unborn baby, Piercen.  I think about her and her family and the time that they will spend waiting on test results, waiting on answers, and waiting for him.  Her time will be spent praying.  We serve an amazing God and whether baby Piercen realizes it or not he has slowed me down, helped me to see that we cannot rush life, it goes by fast enough as it is.  We need to spend time with the ones that we love, spend time with God, and treasure the time that we have with each other.  Please keep this precious family in your prayers.  You can keep up with them at Prayers for Piercen.  They need our time filled with prayer and conversations with God.
