A Game and Goodies

I just love reader's theater.  I think it is fabulous and there is just soooo much you can do with it (I'll share some of the things we do later).  Usually I do reader's theater in my small groups but this week we are doing it as a whole class.  We are reading How the Grinch Stole Christmas, {click here} to get a copy for your class.  It's perfect for a large class and I had planned for the kids to read it to their parents at the Christmas party buuut...........my little sweeties keep getting sick.  I had 3 out today and sent 3 home throwing up.  Yikes!!  Hello Lysol!!

Last week we learned the long o sound spelled ow, oa, and o.  I made a game for the kiddos to play and thought I would share it with you.
We have also spent the entire school year (it feels like) learning types of sentences and using the correct terminology.  There is really nothing cuter than to hear them tell me it's an interrogative sentence.  They truly butcher mispronounce that word but they know what it is.

Our parent gifts are coming along nicely!!  I think they are turning out pretty stinkin' cute, if I do say so myself.  My favorite kind of gifts from my own sweeties involves something on their body painted-then transformed into something else (example: like feet turned into ghosts) and pictures. I believe I have captured both. {squealing!!}  Pics coming.

Okay, I've shared a game now let me share a goodie.  I love to make cake balls aka blobs (mine actually resemble a blob) and give them as gifts.  So my little sass and I got started, we used a chocolate cake mix and frosting and a vanilla cake mix and frosting.  This is really super duper easy.  First, you bake a cake according the box directions.  Let it cool and then break it apart in a bowl a mix in the frosting.
Form small balls or blobs and freeze for a couple of hours.  Melt candy chocolate and dip the cake ball in the chocolate and place on wax paper to cool.  To dress up our blobs we melted white chocolate and drizzled it over the top.  Finally, try to give most of them away otherwise you will get carried away eating them.

Sweet Dreams Friends!
